The song was written in late 2009 with my best friend and then-bandmate Samuel Jacob; he had put together what I thought was a sad and strange chord sequence, I found it to be incredibly evocative and I wrote the lyrics in one sitting after a flash of weird inspiration. Maybe they could have done with a going over after I first wrote them down but I kept the original cut because I believed it to be me at my most honest, as a writer and as a singer.
